Hi Ioannis,
Thanks for the update on the relay. Would you update the manual which describes the relay as NO.

I'm going to have to rethink my design now as its based on the assumption that the relay is normally open.

Dear Graham,
The new Manual is ready. It has been completely re-written by my Italian friend Marcello. We are waiting to close the final update of the firmware in order to update all extra things we added in order to release it.

My Warmest Regards
Ioannis

Hi Ioannis,
I've been looking at my circuits and there is no easy way to adapt them to cater for an NC relay rather than an NO one. I assume the NC behaviour is a hardware function of the relay that you soldered on the UPiS board and not something you can change in the firmware?

I believe an NO relay is much more useful than an NC one and I'm guessing most people would want the relay to be open unless explicitly closed under the control of the UPiS.

With NC we get the following:

UPiS in LPR - Relay closed.
UPiS in EPR/USB/etc. - Relay open/closed as commanded.

With it this way I can control power to my external devices via the relay when the UPiS is on, but these devices are then always powered up when the UPiS goes into LPR, which is back to front.

If its the actual relay that's NC could I replace it with a NO one? Is I a discrete component that I can unsolder and replace?

OK so I figured out where the relay is on the board and it does't look too difficult to unsolder it. Do you have part number for the relay so I can order an NO equivalent?

But, due to fact that we are working for the new products, I will be able to go to the post on Monday, when we send PCBs to manufacturer and will be more free.

So I should take the relay off and solder it on the other side of the board? But it looks like there are components underneath where the relay would be on the reverse of the board.

Are these the correct pads for the relay?
