Re: New Firmware 3.0 for the UPS PIco HV1.0 and HV1.1

Hi,

Another month has passed by without any software release or update on its status :| .

Can you please give us an HONEST answer: can we expect a (working) software release AT ALL in the near future :?:

Thanks.

Re: New Firmware 3.0 for the UPS PIco HV1.0 and HV1.1

Hi, On August 10, a probable release date of September 15 was announced. We have October 15 now :| I will be visiting one of my remote installations in one week (about 800km from where I live) It would be nice if a new firmware would be available at that time, so I can perform the update while I am ...

Re: Update of firmware to support latest kernel ??

In your last reply you only mention the HV1.1 modules. I hope the fix also includes the HV1.0 modules, as they suffer from the same i2c issue.

I have learned to be patient: remember how long it took to convince you of the ups_pico hang issue...

Re: Trouble with rtc

Your problem with RTC is most probably related to the i2c communication issues between the raspberry pi and the ups_pico module that surfaced when the kernel version was bumped from 4.4.50 yo 4.9.xx. It will hopefully be resolved as soon as the new firmware for the ups_pico HV1.0 and HV1.1 modules w...

Re: Update of firmware to support latest kernel ??

I hate to say this, but experience has shown that predictions made in this forum must be taken with an enormous grain of salt. The problem was detected/solved already in february of 2017. At that time the developer stated: Just to let you know we solved the problem with I2C for the kernel 4.9 on all...

Re: UPS PIco script not working

What you can do is: 1. modify picofssd.py to contain GPIO.setwarnings(False) as stated in your error message, which would just hide the warning (note: the script still works even with the warning) or 2. modify picofssd.py to contain something like: import atexit def goodbye(): GPIO.cleanup() atexit....

Re: UPS PIco script not working

This also happens when the script somehow got terminated and then restarted again (e.g. if you launch the script from the commandline, then terminate it and then try to relaunch it again) The reason is that the script, when terminated, does not cleanly release the resources it had 'in use' (GPIO pin...

Re: Pico not monitoring and Battery not charging

No, please don't do that !!!

You at least need some kind of current limiting device like a series resistor (e.g. 100 ohms), but I suggest to wait for the next firmware release, which should be almost ready for release (at least I was promised once more ;)) and hopefully also fixes this issue.

Re: Pico not monitoring and Battery not charging

I think I mentioned it already in one of my posts (but maybe not in this thread): Just somehow give the battery a little bit of extra charge to get closer to the 3.00 volts area (for batteries hanging around the 2.40 volts area) from that point on, the charging circuit of the pico is able to take ov...

Re: Pico not monitoring and Battery not charging

Looks like it or he was participating in the general strike in Athens :-| Last contact I had was Sat 30 Jan via PM, but after that: total silence. BTW, if you have a battery hanging around in the 2.40 volts area, and you cannot wait for the firmware to fix it, there is a way to get out of that situa...
